SGNews

I worked on SGNews's automated publishing system, improving how it collects source stories, prepares articles, and detects failures.

Pipeline publication measured through 12 September 2026.

What the business needed

Articles were rewritten manually, while hidden plugin flags caused scheduled feed runs to skip processing.

What I worked on

  1. 01Built an automated process for preparing headlines, summaries, key points, and source links.
  2. 02Added checks for duplicate stories and Singapore relevance.
  3. 03Investigated news sources that stopped producing articles and repaired how their content was collected.

KEY DECISIONS

Keep articles moving

Process the next waiting articles instead of repeatedly reading the same first page.

Show why a source failed

Distinguish a missing article, an empty page, and a blocked source so the problem can be investigated.

What the project delivered

47,277articles publishedPublic WordPress API count, 7 May–12 September 2026.
2,445articles in one measured weekPublic WordPress API, 6–12 September 2026.

Checks behind the work

These checks describe the software at the recorded point in the project.

89 secondsbacklog clear run13 previously skipped articles processed with zero errors.

“Just reviewed the new articles on staging and honestly the quality difference is night and day. The key points are now pulling real quotes, specific names, dates, and data that genuinely add value beyond the summary.”
